Centristic Goes Solar!
During the early part of 2015, Centristic made the decision to help reduce its carbon footprint and install solar panels on the South facing elevation of the workshop roof.
This made both sustainability and also commercial sense to the business.
After successfully completing the latest Hemerdon Tungsten mine project, Centristic awarded the supply and installation contract to BECO Solar, also based here in South Devon. Installation of over 200 solar panels is now complete, with the work carried out to a very high standard and with minimal interuptions to our workshop operations.
The electricity generated from the solar panels is around 40,000 Kwh which will significantly offset the power used by Centristic and allow some surplus electricity to be fed back into the National grid. These solar panels will also save around 25 tonnes of carbon dioxide in the first year.
This is just one step for Centristic in our plans to become ever more environmentally focussed and responsible.
Whist we were provided safe access to the roof, we replaced the existing rooflights in order to maximise the natural light levels within the workshop and reduce the electrical lighting where possible.
